Idaho Cup Tournament

The inaugural Idaho Cup youth hockey tournament is set to drop the puck in Idaho Falls from January 30 to February 1, 2026. This event is not just a tournament, it's a landmark moment for the sport of hockey in the Gem State.
The Idaho Cup makes history as the first AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) sanctioned amateur hockey tournament hosted in the State of Idaho! This event will showcase expanded competitive options in the state by providing young athletes with a brand-new platform to compete, develop their skills, and pursue high-quality hockey.
The Idaho Cup is more than a tournament; it is a testament to the growth of hockey in the Gem State. The Snake River Youth Hockey Association is thrilled to welcome teams, coaches, and families from around the Western US for a weekend filled with high-energy hockey action. Tournament Overview
Welcome to the registration site for the first annual Idaho Cup amateur hockey tournament. The Idaho Cup is an AAU licensed youth ice hockey tournament hosted in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Please read through all tournament details below before registering.
Ages
Participation is open to players aged 3 to 18. Teams will be divided into the following age divisions:
Juniors: 6U & 8U
Birthdates On/After 1/1/2017
Mids: 10U & 12U
Birthdates 1/1/2013 to 12/31/2016
Seniors: 14U & Up
Birthdates On/Before 12/31/2012
Skill Levels
Juniors: Skilled Bracket (Full Ice)
Juniors: Development Bracket (1/2 Ice)
Mids: Skilled Bracket
Mids: Development Bracket
Seniors: Mixed Skills Bracket
When
Registration: Through Dec. 31
Team Check-in: Jan. 30 and Jan. 31
Games: Jan. 30 through Feb. 1

Game times will be provided after registration closes.

The Tournament will be held in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Games will be played at two local ice arenas, addresses below.

Tournament Registration
A separate registration is required for each team. All players and coaches must be registered with AAU before they will be allowed to compete.
Registration Fees
$1,000 per team
Fees will be paid by credit card or electronic check during the registration process.
Refund Policy
Refunds will not be issued after the registration cutoff date of December 31, 2025.
Registration Deadline
Registration closes December 31, 2025.
Brackets will be finalized after registration closes.
Brackets and tournment rules will be posted on this website in early January.
AAU Registration
Team check-in will be conducted at the Mountain America Center on Friday Jan. 30 and Saturday Jan. 31. All players, coaches, and bench personnel must be registered with AAU.
Roster Requirements
Players full name, AAU Number, Jersey Number and Position.
Coach and Bench Personnel full name, AAU Number and Title.
Skilled Team Rosters, identify 6 players per roster who would participate in a shootout in case of a tie.
Rosters must be submitted by January 23, 2026, 7 days prior to the start of the tournament.
Rosters shall be submitted to the Tournament Coordinator at hockeyoperations.sryha.yetis@gmail.com.
Player birth certificates may be requested at check-in.

Tournament Format
Skilled Brackets: Double Elimination with Tie Breaker Rules
Development Brackets: Round-Robin Highest Score Wins
- 2 Points for Win
- 1 Point for Tie
- 0 Points for Loss
Mixed Skill Brackets: Double Elimination or Round-Robin Depending on Number of Teams
Brackets will be populated after registration closes.
Seeding will use random selection.
Home/Away teams will be identified on Tournament brackets.
Each team guaranteed a minimum of two games.
Awards will be given to the top teams in each age division.
The AAU Hockey Rule Book will be the governing document for the tournament. Final rules will be provided after registration closes.
Other Information
Payment Method: Payments during the tournament will be via cash or credit/debit card only.
Concessions: Concessions will be available for purchase at both ice rinks. Mountain America Center concessions are credit/debit card only.
Merchandise: Tournament merchandise will be available for purchase at the Mountain America Center.
Jerseys
Teams should bring a dark and light colored jersey.
Home teams will wear light jerseys.
Away teams will wear dark jerseys.
Locker Rooms
Locker rooms will be assigned.
Access 30 minutes prior to and 30 minutes after each game.
Access limited to registered players and coaches only.
Separate male and female locker rooms provided.
Teams responsible for monitoring their assigned locker rooms.

Volunteers
Teams may be asked to provide a volunteer to staff the penalty box during their games.
Coach's Game
We plan to host a coach's game on Saturday. The game will consist of 2 mixed teams of coaches from all organizations. All coaches age 16+ are welcome to participate. Indicate the number of participating coaches during registration.
Tournament Rules
The AAU Hockey Rule Book will be the governing document for the tournament.
In accordance with Section 5 Tournaments:
- All rosters shall have Players full name, AAU Membership #, Jersey #, Position, so they can be verified at checkin.
- Only players on a verified roster are eligible to participate in any games.
- Any team that plays a non-verified Player or Bench person shall forfit that game.
- Teams shall provide the Tournament Director a final roster 1 week (7 days) before the start of the tournament for verification.
- If a team plays a non-verified player or Bench personnel, they will forfit that game, Head Coach will be Suspended indefinitely pending a hearing by their State Hearing committee or the National Hearing Committee.
- Individual AAU Ice Hockey tournaments may adopt their own rules, provided that said rules do not violate the By-Laws and/or Policies of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) or those of an AAU District and further provided that said rules do not compromise safety and further provided that said rules do not compromise a safety issue. These will be provided to all registered teams after registration closes in early January.
- National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) playing rules have been adopted for most AAU Hockey leagues and tournaments. However, with the following exceptions:
- All classifications designated for players 12 years old and younger (such as 6U, 7U, 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U & 12U) shall be non-checking Safe-Rep.
- Within all classifications designated for players 8 years old and younger (such as 6U, 7U & 8U) the use of Goal Post Anchors are neither required or recommended.
- Most AAU Leagues have adopted a MATCH PENALTY rule (see rules #14).

This event is licensed by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S., Inc. All Participants must have a current AAU membership. AAU membership must be obtained before the competition begins. Non Athlete memberships cannot be purchased at the event, allow up to 10 days for memberships to be processed. Participants are encouraged to visit the AAU web site www.aausports.org to obtain membership.
